NESW | Top 4 Beaches in Oahu

Updated: Feb 14, 2020

1.

South East | Hanauma Bay

Named the best beach in American in 2016! Great for snorkeling. Before you make the trek down, be sure to capture the incredible views of the crescent bay. There is a golf cart that comes to bring people up for $1 - if you cannot walk back up.

Should be strong swimmer, current can be difficult to navigate. They charge $7 since it is a conservatory. This is the best place to see a monk seal on land, diverse coral and fish as you swim further from land. There is a life guard on duty as well.

2.

Northwest | Laniakeae Turtle Beach

You’ll see several turtles lounging, not enough room for beach bathing, but you can swim in the water and perhaps have a better encounter with the sea turtles. Another reason to always have a snorkel! No charge!

3.

Northwest | Ke Iki

Located in the middle of the North Shores seven mile miracle. Quiet, serene, and less than a mile from Food Lion after Lanikea Turtle Beach. Pick up snacks, drinks, and make it a day to enjoy. TIP* The Volcom house has plenty of coconut trees for shade. Arrive around 2-4 PM for the best vibe, sun cover and shaded trees. No chair, no problem. Melt into your towel on the powdered sand. You’ll know you’re in a Hawaii watching lone surfers tackle the monstrous 25 foot waves on the Banzai Pipeline. No charge here!

4.

South | Waikiki Beach

The most famous beach in the world! While it is densely populated, and difficult to find a spot-the excitement and beauty of the sun makes it all worth it. The water is warm, very calm, easy to wade in. Tons of activity to be entertained with! Dozens of surfers, live music, soft sand, palm trees about every inch, and people about every 1/2 inch! No matter how you feel when you arrive, experiencing the life of Waikiki will put a smile on your face and calmness in your soul. There really is no place like this on earth. No charge! Just walk off the street and into the water.

*TIP* Fireworks go off every Friday at 7:45 at the Hyatt Hawaiian Village Hotel. You can get a great view if you walk to the Sheraton.
